STOCK - Shield and Sword by LaLunatique STOCK - Shield and Sword by LaLunatique
Pfiou! Deviantart website is running slow here. I have problems to upload stuff xD

Oh and yeah... that's a pretty cool looking shield I got here. Kitchen tools are mainstream.

*** By the way, this stock is good for small shields or very muscular characters. As I have been told, heavy shield are wielded differently.

Oh ok! Well I was gonna say that I really like ur poses, but the way your holding the shield would be SUPER DANGEROUS in actual combat. If it gets hit by... anything really, ur wrist is gonna shatter. just. bone shards everywhere. it would be bad. shields are usually strapped to the wielder's forearm with a grip also, because that can absorb way more force.

It would also break my wrist indeed!
I added a note in the comment section to explain not to use those poses for realistic drawings xD

Maybe one day I'll redo another series with the real way to hold a shield *-* Thanks for your input!

I can't help but laugh....Don't get me wrong, I love the poses but the fact that you're using a pot lid as a shield makes me chuckle a bit

8D Don't worry, it makes me laugh too!

(on the pratical way I needed something with a handle and not too large to make sure it does not hide the pose xD)

That may be true, but it also makes the pose inaccurate. Most shields were strapped to the forearm in some way, not only held in the hand by the handle (as the wrist is too weak to be able to withstand a strong impact). It's hard to find a good reference pic online to show you the more correct pose (because the shield is in the way), but this, this or this might give you a better idea. :)

You don't even have to change the pot lid if you can't find anything else, you just need to change your arm pose. Just imagine that you are holding a big and heavy shield in front of you, with the main weight of the shield attached to your forearm, not your fist. Now when the impact of a sword, mace, axe, opponent's shield etc comes, your whole arm is strong enough to absorb the shockwave and defend you. ;)
